Project Management
Project management includes developing and implementing a project plan, defining project goals and objectives,
allocating resources, specifying tasks or how goals will be achieved, and associating budgets and time lines for
completion. Project management is necessary to avoid scope creep and keep the project along the critical path.
CSMI project managers understand and follow CSMI Engineering Procedures, interface with other department
engineers and project team members, manage multiple projects concurrently, lead in preparation of drawing design
packages, documentation lists, calculations, and schedules. They also lead in preparation of engineering documents
including: installation specifications, equipment specifications, Bill of Materials, As-builts, & technical and
maintenance manuals and final documentation.

Process Engineering
From powder to liquid handling, process engineers evaluate process and packaging lines implemented at the
manufacturing facilities. Our goal is to optimize the production lines to ensure increased productivity and efficiency.
CSMI Process Engineers interpret process requirements and set design parameters, develop Process Flow Diagrams,
prepare Process Engineering Calculations, define and develop Process Functional Specifications, prepare project
evaluations and cost estimates including engineering, equipment, and installation, develop Piping and
Instrumentation Diagrams, develop equipment layouts and assemblies, and develop Request for Proposals and
Request for Quotation for procurement of equipment and services.

Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineers specify the proper equipment such as tanks, valves, and pumps to match the project
application. Knowledge of the equipments’ specifications and standards are utilized and incorporated into the
design. CSMI Mechanical Engineers plan and prepare ACAD drawings of mechanical equipment layout, piping and
instrumentation diagrams, and piping design, prepare drawing/documentation lists and schedules, including bills of
materials and engineering documents, assist with preparation of process equipment specifications, prepare and
assemble engineering drawings for mechanical contract installation packages, and prepare as-built drawings,
technical and maintenance manuals and final documentation.

Electrical Engineering
CSMI Electrical Engineers perform Electrical Engineering including the following activities preparation of estimates,
development of design concepts, preparation of drawing/documentation lists and schedules, preparation of project
status reports, preparation of calculations, equipment specifications and engineering documents, preparation of
installation specifications, commissioning and start-up assistance, preparation of as-builts, technical and
maintenance manuals and final documentation.

Control Engineering
Control Engineers have an understanding of processes and process controls, electrical principles and systems,
electrical and pneumatic drawings, Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and Symbols, Control
System Design and Components. (i.e. PLC technology, HMI technology, instrumentation, pneumatics, motors, etc.).
They also have knowledge of various packaging operations such conveying, filling, case packing, and palletizing.
CSMI Control Engineers are proficient in PLC programming and HMI applications development and knowledgeable of
database applications such as MS SQL Server, higher-level programming language such as VBA or C++, knowledge of
communication networking and protocols such as Ethernet and DeviceNet. They have the ability to perform a project
start-up.
